Flip Gordon talks Death Before Dishonor: Putting a Bully in his Place
On September 28th, ROH presents Death Before Dishonor live from Las Vegas, Nevada. Flip Gordon joined us to talk about the show, his recent matches, and what’s next for him!
Flip Gordon has a very big match coming up at ROH Death Before Dishonor, featuring him and Colt Cabana taking on Bully Ray and Silas Young in a tables match. After months of dealing with Bully Ray attacking Cheeseburger and getting involved in everything Flip was doing, Flip has finally had enough. Joining Colt Cabana, Flip will be looking to teach both Silas Young and Bully Ray a lesson.
ROH Death Before Dishonor will be streamed life and FREE for all HonorClub VIP members, and 50% off for all standard HonorClub Members. Death Before Dishonor can also be seen on the FiteTV App, and through your standard television PPV provider. The show starts at 9 PM ET on September 28th, and you can be sure it’s one you don’t want to miss!
We at Daily DDT would like to thank Flip Gordon for taking the time to talk to us, and we hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did!

Flip Gordon on Nick Aldis & ROH Honor For All, and All In
Josiah MacDonald: The last time we talked, it was just before ROH Honor for All. At that show, you had a championship match with Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Could you tell us about that match?
Flip Gordon: It was an awesome feeling! I learned a lot working with Aldis, from in ring to the promotion, and the video packages were put together by David Lagana. The way that the hype around this match felt made it feel so special and real. It was really cool to be in that position with so many eyes on me in such an anticipated match. You didn’t know if I was going to win and beat Nick, and become the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. You didn’t know if I’d get booked for All In. You just didn’t know what was going to happen, and there was so much on the line. That’s what made it special, and it was a huge honour, no pun intended.
JMD: The storytelling was phenomenal from start to finish, with even Cody’s commentary where you slowly earned his respect.
FG: Absolutely! That’s what sets apart wrestling from other forms of entertainment.
JMD: Unfortunately, you lost the match, but there was a fortunate incident at All In during the pre-show, All In Zero Hour, on WGN. Could you walk us through the Battle Royal?
FG: So, I got to enter the All In Over Budget Battle Royal as El Hijo de Chico, the son of Chico El Luchador. Early on in the match, Bully Ray dragged me out of the ring and powerbombed me through a table. While I was laying there, I just decided to hang out and wait for my opportunity. I think all the other wrestlers kind of forgot about me, and when the perfect opportunity arose, I took my chance and got to get some payback against Bully. Since I’m in a bit of a feud with Bully, that was just icing on the cake, as I finally got booked for All In.
JMD: Later on in the night, you had a match with Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship. How was that match?
FG: I think that match was very different from what a lot of people were expecting, and I think it was different than anything I’ve done before. It was a lot of fun to get out there and do something different and try something new. We went out there, and I think we did what we were supposed to do and I think it worked! It was one of the most fun matches I was ever a part of, and not just because it was in front of 11,000 people.
JMD: From a fan perspective, seeing Lethal come out in the Macho Man gear as Black Machismo was a lot of fun.
FG: It was hard to keep it together, to be honest. I grew up watching Lethal back when he was on the top in TNA, and getting to go against him as Black Machismo was surreal. It was really dream come true, and I was freaking out on the inside.

Flip Gordon and Bully Ray: Flip Has Had Enough
JMD: You guys delivered huge, and it was a great match. One of the things we need to hit on is your feud with Bully Ray, and how he’s been targeting you of late.
FG: This one is very personal. I’ve never been one to stand back and let people bully someone else. I don’t back down from anyone. So, when this happened time, after time, after time again, I had enough. Eventually you have to stand up and do something about it. That’s where I’m at right now. I’m not going to back down from Bully. So, this weekend, it comes down to this – Me and Colt Cabana against Bully Ray and Silas Young.

They have never seen me in a tables match before. This is what Bully is famous for, but they haven’t seen everything from me, while I have lots of footage to study on them. I’m still new and a lot of people still haven’t seen what I’m capable off. Come Friday, at Las Vegas, I’m going to put Bully Ray through a ****ing table.
JMD: Outside of your own, which match on Death Before Dishonor are you looking forward to the most?
FG: Oh gosh! There’s so many! I’m really looking forward to Will Ospreay vs. Jay Lethal. I think that match is going to be the one to watch. It could steal the whole show! But don’t forget that I’m still on the card, and you still have The Bullet Club vs. CHAOS. The whole card is stacked from top to bottom.
JMD: Where can folks find you on social media and buy your merchandise, and where can we see Flip soon?
FG: You can get my merchandise on Pro Wrestling Tees, and you can find me everywhere on social media. On Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook!
I have Ring of Honor coming up, New Japan on the 30th, and I’m heading to CMLL for the Grand Prix in October! I’ve just had a few weeks off, and I’m well rested, but I’m looking forward to getting back in there for this table match.
JMD: Thanks for joining us again Flip! Hopefully we can talk again soon.
FG: No problem! It was a pleasure!
