Edge

Although Edge clinched his first WWE Championship in early 2006, he didn’t truly reach that next level of super stardom until he arrived on SmackDown the following year. There, he made the blue brand his own and quickly cemented his spot at the show’s lead heel.

During his time on SmackDown, Edge held the World Heavyweight and WWE Championships on more than a handful of occasions and played both the babyface and heel roles exceptionally well. His abrupt retirement from the ring in 2011 left a major void toward the top of the card, but he has appeared sporadically on the show in recent years and is always good for a Cutting Edge segment.

Despite Edge claiming he had not yet been contacted by WWE to return for SmackDown 1000 (which may have been true at the time), it’s ridiculous to think that WWE would exclude him from such a grand occasion. Even a backstage segment involving him would be enough, but The Rated R-Superstar hosting Cutting Edge with someone from the current roster would be a better use of him.
