NXT UK: Pete Dunne (c) vs. Noam Dar

Pete Dunne is the most dominant champion in WWE right now, with all apologies to AJ Styles and others who have a valid claim. For over 500 days, Dunne has held the United Kingdom Championship with aplomb, defending the title on NXT and UK-branded shows, in addition to participating in thoroughly enjoyable non-title matches.

He’s faced Ricochet, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Tyler Bate, and so many other great wrestlers in his career in WWE, going toe-to-toe with some of the most respected wrestlers in the business today.

Noam Dar was Dunne’s latest challenger, and this match qualifies as an “Instant Classic”. It was the perfect way to close out the inaugural NXT UK episode, and it honestly looked like Dar would be able to steal the victory in the end.

However, Dar couldn’t get Dunne to tap out in the dying moments of the match, and his “pinky” signal after Dunne broke the hold proved to be a mistake. Infuriated by what he perceived as arrogance on the part of his challenger, Dunne destroyed Dar’s pinky in every way he possibly could, and then hit him with the devastating “Bitter End” to secure yet another successful title defense.

Dunne is always impressive, but this match was another reminder that Dar is an extraordinary gifted technical wrestler who will be one of the top babyfaces on NXT UK if he continues to be a regular part of the show. Dar has been a member of the 205 Live roster for years, but despite being involved in rivalries with TJP and Lio Rush, his finest work could be with the NXT UK brand going forward.
