A Wrestling Fan’s Guide To Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury

Promos And Mind Games That Could Rival Those Of The Best Mic Workers WWE Can Offer:
Ever since their first in-ring confrontation, which you can see above, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have engaged in a war of trash-talking and insults the likes of which would make even Paul Heyman proud.
In fact, one of the most talked about aspects of this match is the boisterous personalities of the two heavy-hitters themselves. Tyson Fury, who is on a road back to the Heavyweight Championships after relinquishing the belts in 2016, has been insistent that he’s heading into this bout in the best shape of his career. The outspoken British star has claimed in his many interviews and media appearances that his renewed conditioning, along with a dose of his now signature mental warfare, will lead to his ultimate victory.
That mental warfare is where things get really interesting. Fury has been known to go to great lengths to get into the minds of his competitors before his fights, not unlike WWE stars such as Randy Orton or Samoa Joe, even going as far as attending a press conference dressed up in a batman costume to throw off Wladamir Klitschko in his last major bout.
For his match with Wilder, Fury has primarily focused his promos, shall we say, on claiming how much bigger of a star he is when compared to Wilder. In fact, Fury has truly taken an angle that could have been been straight out of a heel like The Miz’s playbook by spouting off about his immense stardom all around the world.
In one of the most recent press conferences for the fight, Fury claimed, among many other things, that he polled 50 people walking down the street and only 2 had heard of Deontay Wilder, yet all of them had heard of Fury himself. He then declared that wouldn’t matter however, because soon, “the whole world will know Wilder as the person Tyson Fury knocked out!”
On the other hand though, Deontay Wilder has proven time and time again to be more than capable of handling himself on the mic. He’s taken every verbal jab Fury has thrown and more, while returning the favor on several occasions. Most notably, Wilder even decided to engage in some mind games of his own when he memorably crashed the weigh-in for Fury’s last fight.
