Five Intergender Feuds We Want to See at WWE

Asuka VS Brock Lesnar
If there is any female roster member who has been more neglected than Candice LeRae lately, it’s Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow is one of the most dynamic talents that WWE has ever employed, and yet since she lost to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 she’s struggled to find a storyline that sticks. Her recent team-up with Naomi has been a lot of fun – she’s also an undeniable highlight of the Mixed Match Challenge – but we know that Asuka shines as a singles wrestler.
She’s also at her most fun when she’s in the title picture. Her undefeated run as the NXT Women’s Champion breathed new life into a division that sorely needed it, and catapulted talents like Ember Moon into the spotlight they deserved. And the excitement around her addition to this weekend’s SmackDown Women’s Championship match shows that the fans haven’t forgotten that.
Asuka deserves to be in title contention. But I think she should aim higher. In my eyes, there’s only one belt worthy of her at this point: the Universal Title.
Let’s be real. Nobody wants Brock Lesnar to be the WWE Universal Champion. Acknowledging his glory days is all well and good, but at this point, he’s a boring and lazy wrestler who drags down any match he’s shoved into. He can rarely be bothered to show up and defend his title on RAW, and when he does, his matches are so paint-by-the-numbers that you don’t even need to watch them to call them.
Given the tragic circumstances under which the belt was vacated (best wishes to Roman Reigns and his family), it makes sense that WWE had to do damage control. But putting the belt back on Lesnar was the wrong call, and getting it off of him as soon as possible is the only way to fix it.
Asuka would be up to the challenge. Her career in Japan includes a number of awesome intergender highlights. She tagged in an intergender team with Kenny Omega. She booked herself against Minoru Suzuki in a bout so brutal people are still talking about it.
If Asuka can hold her own against Suzuki, she can definitely handle Brock Lesnar. I don’t know if Lesnar has ever had an intergender match, because I know nothing about him, and I refuse to learn. It doesn’t matter. I am still confident that Asuka could straight-up murder him if she wanted to.
WWE, you’ve been wasting your best talent long enough. Give us the Universal Champion we deserve. Give us Asuka beating the absolute hell out of Brock Lesnar. Then, now, and forever.
