WWE Raw: 4 Possible Open Challenge Opponents For Dean Ambrose
Cedric Alexander
Cedric Alexander won the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 34 in a fantastic pre-show match with long-time friend/rival Mustafa Ali, and he enjoyed a lengthy reign with the title as the first champion under the renewed direction of 205 Live. He recently lost his rematch for the title on the pre-show of the TLC PPV to Buddy Murphy, so Alexander has some room to spread his wings in WWE.
We recently saw Ali compete in a match against WWE Champion Daniel Bryan on SmackDown Live, and the match became a trending topic on Twitter, with the WWE Universe stirring into a frenzy for this dream match.
Alexander himself has tweeted about wanting to face Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship in an “Open Challenge” match, and while WWE never pulled the trigger on that, the seeds have been planted. And with wrestlers like Lio Rush, Drake Maverick, and even Drew Gulak having appeared on Raw, there is some precedent for a 205 Live superstar to compete on Raw, even in a one-off appearance.
There’s no doubt that Ambrose vs. Alexander would be a fun match to watch, and it would be a joy to watch Alexander sell for Ambrose and get the crowd on its feet. A rope-break “Lumbar Check” spot has never failed before, and it would do wonders in a match like this.
