4.) Balor Club Is For Everyone
While Finn Balor’s shoulder injury was healed up in time for WrestleMania 33, he unfortunately missed out on the affair due to how storylines played out around then. So WrestleMania 34 and his inclusion in the Intercontinental Championship match with The Miz and Seth Rollins was a big deal.
For weeks, the wrestling fandom speculated about whether Balor was going to show up at Mania as the Demon and how it would appear if it was, especially in a city as creepy as New Orleans.
What happened instead though was amazing. Balor entered with members of the LGBTQ community of New Orleans, adorned with rainbows on his usually black and white gear and his titantron flashing with the words “fOr eVERyone.” (Both a promise of inclusion and a play on his ongoing troll of Dave Meltzer claiming Vince McMahon didn’t think he was over enough.)
As a queer wrestling fan and a huge Finn Balor fan, this was a huge moment of 2018 for me personally, because it was the first time I could remember feeling explicitly like someone wanted me there and that I didn’t have to squeeze in the door. Balor could have easily been the Demon and guaranteed himself a win, but he instead chose to go a path of inclusion. To promise that he was going to be a leader that included everyone in his Club. How could that not feel good?
