4. Elias

When Elias got called up to the main roster last year in 2017, it was to little fanfare. The Drifter was hardly a standout during his run in NXT, and his gimmick called back to the worst of WWE’s New Generation era of animated characters.

But Elias made the gimmick work and continues to do so. He took a simple weekly routine – badmouth the town he’s performing in, then sing a song until he’s interrupted – and turned it into the perfect heat magnet.

Whether he was in the ring with Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, or John Cena, Elias made whatever segment he was in golden. He’s quickly become one of the most vastly improved superstars on the Raw roster.

Let us not forget the moment in time last October where he and Kevin Owens stood in the middle of the ring in front of a hostile Seattle crowd and were drowned in boos for several minutes. They were the loudest boos of the year and the loudest boos any of us have seen any superstar receive in years. It was a must see moment and a must see sight to behold.

It’s moments like this that we tend to miss now that Elias has turned babyface. However, it’s also moments like this that we will never forget and make us hope that Elias can duplicate that kind of heat in a positive manner fitting for a face. He was one of 2018’s best heels. Now, hopefully, he can become one of 2019’s best babyfaces.
