4. Cody vs. Kenny Omega – Supercard of Honor XII

An Elite divided.

This feud was so intricate yet oh so simple. Kenny was the leader of Bullet Club and Cody wanted to be. Cody went so far as to try to lure The Young Bucks away from Kenny which only further complicated relationships within the Elite.

A rare Ring of Honor appearance by New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Kenny Omega gave this year’s Supercard of Honor a slightly different, almost more elevated feel.

This match was both very physical and extremely personal. The crowd absolutely loved Kenny and hated Cody. Anytime action spilled to the outside, you could hear fans voice their displeasure with the American Nightmare.

Kenny Omega delivered an inadvertent V-Trigger to Brandi Rhodes which sent her through a table. Coupled with numerous near falls, this match delivered and would serve as a precursor to their match at NJPW’s G1 Special in San Francisco just a few months later.

The Young Bucks, who were ringside for the match, looked to have chosen a side and attempted to deliver a superkick to Cody. But when Cody ducked, The Bucks instead nailed Kenny which gave Cody the advantage and the win.
