WWE NXT Results, Highlights, and Grades for January 16, 2019
WWE NXT returns tonight and promises a truly epic clash between Keith Lee and Kassius Ohno. We’ll also hear from Johnny Gargano, Bianca Belair, and more on the road to NXT TakeOver: Phoenix.
WWE NXT will be presenting NXT TakeOver: Phoenix in just a few weeks, and there’s going to be no shortage of superstars trying to make their mark ahead of the event. To earn a spot on the card and one of NXT‘s biggest events of the year, they’ll have to make a statement as soon as possible.
After Kassius Ohno’s assaults on Matt Riddle previously on WWE NXT, Riddle’s bro Keith Lee is now looking to avenge the attacks. Keith Lee has already proven his in-ring potential to be truly limitless, but he’s got a big challenge in the form of ring veteran Kassius Ohno. Will Ohno bask in his glory? Or will Lee be knocked out just like Riddle?
We’re also expecting to hear from Bianca Belair as The EST of NXT prepares to face Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. She picked up a big win over Nikki Cross last week to remain undefeated, but she’ll need to be extra ready to take on The Queen of Spades.

Last week, we also saw Johnny Gargano deliver a message to Ricochet. Johnny Wrestling is coming for the NXT North American Championship, and he added an exclamation point to that message with a well-timed superkick to the chin of the champion. Johnny is in action this week, and we can expect he’ll be looking for some momentum on the way to Phoenix.
Speaking of momentum, no team seems more eager for it than The Street Profits. Despite continued support from the NXT Universe, the team of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have struggled to capture gold in NXT. They’re looking to change that in 2019 by becoming the NXT Tag Team Champions. To do that, they’ll need to start building momentum to earn a shot at the titles.
Finally, the last thing we know to expect tonight is the return of Dominik Dijakovic. The massive superstar has unleashed nothing but destruction when competing on NXT, and there’s no doubt this week will be more of the same. Whatever man is given the unenviable task of competing against Dijakovic will merely be a stand-in for destruction as the NXT Universe must feast their eyes on the sheer power of Dominik Dijakovic.
All this and more is expected on WWE NXT tonight. It airs on the WWE Network at 8PM ET/7PM CT, so check back here for live results, highlights, and grades when the show begins.
