Ronda and Sasha Are Selling Royal Rumble

Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey teamed with her upcoming Royal Rumble opponent Sasha Banks this week to take on Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka … again. How many times must Raw throw this match, in some form or another, onto us and expect us to have any interest?

For months Raw has repeatedly fallen back on making Tamina Snuka the fall girl for most rivalries in order to get the other women over, and quite frankly this underappreciated veteran deserves better.

It’s not like this was a bad match, but I get really tired of seeing the same things over and over again, and it makes me feel like there’s just not much effort being put into booking very interesting matches for these women most weeks. This one mercifully ended when – to the surprise of absolutely no one – Sasha Banks made Tamina tap out. Who cares, right?

But what came after gave us the real story. Sasha Banks arrived back on the scene last week in a major way and, even if WWE has no idea how to book Raw’s women’s division in interesting matches, they’ve shown plenty of promise in storyline build to the Royal Rumble.

A post-match interview with Banks and Rousey saw Ronda make a poor choice of words that set Sasha off. The two got into an argument and Banks could be heard telling Rousey that this was the Boss’s house.

What stood out to me over everything else, though, was when Sasha stuck up the Four Horsewomen hand signal and walked away, spurning Ronda’s attempts at making peace. Are you excited yet?
