Impact Wrestling Results, Highlights, and Review for February 8, 2019
On the final episode of Impact Wrestling before Uncaged, we saw some great story progression topped off by a truly monumental main event. Rosemary continues to get into the mind of Dark Allie, Trey Miguel is a star in the making, and The Lucha Bros tore the house down against LAX for the Impact World Tag Team Titles.
In another episode of Impact Wrestling that was simulcast on Twitch, the extended fallout from Homecoming continued throughout the night. We also got some huge announcements for Uncaged next week, and a shocking one for Impact Wrestling’s United We Stand event on April 4, 2019. Hardcore legends Rob Van Dam and Sabu will return to Impact Wrestling and team up against The Lucha Bros in an Extreme Dream Match.
The Shadow Realm is Coming
In the latest installment of the most compelling story within Impact Wrestling, the tensions between Dark Allie and Rosemary increased without Rosemary even having to be present. Allie took on former friend turned bitter enemy Kiera Hogan in a great showcase of Knockouts action, but Allie just couldn’t stay focused enough to pick up a victory.
Su Yung was at ringside and looked like she might try to interfere when Jordynne Grace, who was also at ringside but in the corner of Kiera Hogan, suddenly blasted Yung. As Allie went to grab the glove, she seemed to realize Yung wasn’t there. Without knowing Yung was simply on the ground elsewhere around the ring, Allie began to panic and looked worried Rosemary was about to appear.
The distraction was enough to let Hogan catch Allie and plant her with a Swinging Fisherman Neckbreaker to secure the victory. Backstage, Allie couldn’t let things go and kept muttering “she’s here.” Moments later, Allie’s worries were confirmed as a message from Rosemary appeared once more.
What is the history between Sami Callihan and Rich Swann?
As entrancing as the supernatural story between the Knockouts has been, there’s another bit of intrigue within Impact Wrestling as of late. In recent weeks, we’ve seen Sami Callihan approach Rich Swann multiple times and implore him to “come home” and join Ohio Versus Everything. On the surface, it seems like an odd choice to want the native of Baltimore on oVe, but there’s apparently a piece of the puzzle we’re still missing.
Rich Swann has implied that oVe just isn’t the right fit for him, but Sami Callihan has made it clear that their ties run deep and Swann is family. Next week, we may finally get some clarity. Callihan has pledged to reveal all about his and Swann’s past, and that revelation could finally lead to a firm answer from X-Division Champion Rich Swann about joining oVe.
The Main Event is Delightfully Crowded
Sometimes having a crowded situation can be frustrating, but the crowded World Title picture in Impact Wrestling is really spectacular. Even in the weeks leading up to Homecoming, we saw Killer Kross and Moose attempt to take the Impact World Championship from Johnny Impact. Both men came up short, but that hasn’t quelled their desires for gold. Instead, it may have only intensified them.

“The Machine” Brian Cage took on Johnny Impact at Homecoming and looked poised for victory, but a downed referee kept him from leaving as the champion. After the way things went down, Cage has been absolutely furious about being “screwed” and losing his championship opportunity. Despite Cage’s anger, it was Killer Kross who put the exclamation point on Homecoming.
After Johnny managed to defeat Cage, controversial or not, he celebrated in the ring with wife and Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie. That was when Killer Kross found his way to the ring, and after a brawl he ended up sending Valkyrie into the third row with a massive powerbomb. As Moose kept his name in the running by sticking close to Killer Kross, that’s all leading to next week’s massive main event.
At Impact Wrestling Uncaged, which will be a two-hour special event on Twitch and Pursuit taking the place of next week’s episode, Johnny Impact will be forced to defend the Impact World Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match against “The Machine” Brian Cage, Killer Kross, and Moose. It’s as chaotic as a championship match can get, and equally unpredictable. We’ve got a 75% chance of a first-time Impact World Champion next week, excluding Steiner math calculations.
