SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The Miz & Shane McMahon

WWE Fastlane got rolling with the SmackDown Tag Team Titles on the line, and the story right from the start was The Miz being in his hometown. The Miz was representing his hometown with gear inspired by the Cleveland Browns, and made sure to stop and greet his father, aka Mr. Miz, at ringside before the match began.

Once he was in the ring, Shane McMahon came out with a hot start, but it didn’t take long for The Usos to isolate him and begin to wear down on the part-time competitor. The tag team acumen of The Usos is well established, and their skills were on display as they continued to keep The Miz from entering the match again and unloaded punishment on Shane McMahon.

When The Miz finally did join the fray again, the Cleveland crowd was a hundred percent behind him. The Miz unloaded on The Usos with a string of strikes and moves, even coming off the top rope with a cross body on them to the outside. Mr. Miz was right by that cross body, and popped to his feet to applaud his son’s actions.

The Miz started to roll and looked poised for victory after nailing a Skull Crushing Finale, but Shane McMahon being down inside the ring distracted the referee and kept the pinfall from being counted quick enough. After some commotion in the corner, we had an odd moment with Jimmy Uso down in the corner and The Miz down in the center of the ring.

Shane McMahon looked to hit him with Coast to Coast, but Jey Uso got on the top and threatened to hit a splash on The Miz. In a moment of crazy timing, Jey came off the top with the splash as The Miz rolled out of the way. Rather than hitting the Coast to Coast, Shane McMahon changed course and intercepted with a dropkick to knock Jey Uso out of the air.

It was a huge moment, but wasn’t enough to get the job done. The Miz went up top again later in the match at the suggestion of his father, but Jimmy Uso got the knees up on him and rolled into an inside cradle to pick up the win and retain the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

The Miz went to his father at ringside after the match and it looked like things would be alright despite the loss, but Shane McMahon suddenly shocked the world by turning on The Miz.

In a vicious assault, Shane McMahon beat him down and even threatened to attack The Miz’s dad. The stage looks set for a match between them at WrestleMania 35, and The Miz has gone full babyface.
