WWE SmackDown Grades: Mr. McMahon Stacks The Deck Against KofiMania
3. Randy Orton And AJ Styles Segment
Two of the most decorated pro wrestlers of the past 10-15 years have to be considered Randy Orton and AJ Styles. Although both men have taken very different paths to get to the point where they are now, they both currently reside in the WWE and are two of the company’s top stars.
Styles has been in the WWE for over three years now, but has yet to find himself in a legitimate feud with Orton. That is until now where these two have been interacting more and more. It started out with subtle backstage interactions, but it has picked up much more than that over the past couple of weeks, including a Fastlane interaction where Styles hit Orton with a phenomenal forearm.
The Viper came out to the ring last night and laid it all out there. He started out by saying the house that AJ Styles built was a house Orton built years before Styles even got to the WWE. He mentioned how long it took Styles to get to the WWE and while Styles was “getting a tan in Florida with Dixie Carter,” Orton was facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The Phenomenal One wouldn’t take that lying down, however, and he joined the proceedings.
Back and forth jabs ensued and it was truly awesome. Styles said Orton got a job in the WWE because of his dad, Orton said Styles and his indies buddies stole The Klique’s hand sign, and Styles said Orton’s RKO is a diamond cutter ripoff, just to name a few jabs. The Viper closed it out by saying as long as Styles wants to rent a room in his house, rent is due. It was then that Styles made the challenge for WrestleMania 35.
This was a fantastic back and forth promo by two of the best in the business and this pending match should be one of the best at WrestleMania 35.
Final Grade: A+
