1 +2. Cesaro and Sheamus

It would make plenty of sense for Kofi Kingston to begin the Gauntlet Match against the two wrestlers he’s arguably the most familiar with in this match. The Bar and The New Day have been centerpieces of a stacked SmackDown Tag Team Division that has helped re-define main roster tag team wrestling in WWE since the Superstar Shakeup put them and the current champions, The Usos, on the same brand.

At Fastlane, it was Sheamus and Cesaro who savagely beat Kofi, causing him to lay there without any sign of movement. The animosity between The New Day and The Bar is at an all-time high, because even their battles for championship gold on Raw and SmackDown pale in comparison to how much this match means personally and professionally to Kofi. Plus, he has revenge on his mind after what happened at Fastlane.

Cesaro would be an ideal opponent for Kingston in the Gauntlet Match, setting the tone for what’s to come over the course of an hour-plus of wrestling action for the Ghanian pro wrestler. There’s little doubt that Kingston and Cesaro are two of the best pure in-ring talents in WWE today, and they were once among the most important players in WWE’s mid-card division before becoming among the most important players in the company’s tag team division.

Of course, they are more than good enough to be singles competitors when the opportunity arises, and this should be an awesome showcase for both.

Meanwhile, after Kofi overcomes Cesaro’s hybrid combination of freakish agility and strength, he’ll have to deal with the brutal Sheamus, who has become even more unrelenting since teaming up with the equally savvy Cesaro. Sheamus is a four-time world champion in WWE, so Kofi will have to use all of his veteran guile and technical ability to get past “The Celtic Warrior”.
