Samoa Joe

There may not be a superstar in WWE who is as driven by pure anger as Samoa Joe, and a second mini-match between both stars would be well-received by fans from all sections. Joe and Kofi put on a clinic in the third portion of the last Gauntlet Match on SmackDown Live in February, and with the opportunity for callbacks to their first match, this exchange should be even better.

Joe is such a dangerous opponent to face relatively early in a Gauntlet Match, because he can wear opponents down with ease. His entire offense is about slowly sapping a quicker competitor’s stamina, though Joe is a rather quick competitor himself. That said, Joe usually faces wrestlers smaller than him and looks to ground them, taking out their legs from underneath them before applying the fabled Coquina Clutch.

The parallels between this mini-match and Joe vs. Kofi in the preceding Gauntlet Match are tantalizing. Joe and Kofi faced off in the last Part 3 with Kingston winning that exchange before ultimately falling short, potentially because of the damage inflicted by Joe earlier.

In this match, it won’t be enough for Kofi to defeat the United States Champion, who has proven to be too much for even former NXT Champion Andrade and WWE legend Rey Mysterio to handle. No, Kingston will have to beat Joe relatively quickly, because every minute counts in a Gauntlet Match, especially when it means avoiding damage at the hands of one of the most merciless superstars in WWE.
