In a promo just released, Jon Moxley (AKA Dean Ambrose) revealed that he will be joining NJPW on June 5th, the Best of the Super Juniors final. Moxley is one of the biggest stars in wrestling outside of WWE, and him debuting for NJPW will be a major plus for the company.

In the video above, Moxley is seen in a bar carving an hourglass into the bar, hinting that the promos that have been airing in NJPW have been about him. The screen then says Time’s Up as he was watching a Juice Robinson match. It seems that Jon Moxley is coming to NJPW and for the IWGP United States Championship.

This news comes one night after Moxley debuted in AEW, shocking wrestling fans around the world. Moxley took out Chris Jericho with a Dirty Deeds, the referee, and ultimately Kenny Omega. After taking out Jericho and referee Paul Turner, Moxley turned his attention to Omega.

Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley brawled into the audience and onto the stage. Moxley hit the Dirty Deeds onto a stack of massive poker chips and threw Omega off through the staging area to end the show.

More from NJPW

One day after making his debut on AEW Double or Nothing, Moxley has officially announced his debut for NJPW. It was specified in his multi-year contract with AEW that he would be able to work international dates (as announced by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio), and select indies, with AEW getting first pick on his dates.

This has demonstrated a trend with AEW to allow their wrestlers to work elsewhere. This was seen in the contract with Chris Jericho, who will be wrestling Kazuchika Okada on June 9th for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and with Kenny Omega, who is also allowed to work international dates.

This shift in how companies work with each other is refreshing, as NJPW does not have an official partnership with AEW, but with their rival ROH. With that being said, AEW allowing their talent to work with NJPW leaves the door open for further partnership in the future. In an ideal world, ROH, AEW, and NJPW would all find a way to work together for the betterment of all three companies. However, even if this is far off, this seems to be a step in a good direction.

Jon Moxley debuting in NJPW, and Chris Jericho wrestling there a few days later is a very big deal. It’s good for everyone that this is happening as it elevates Moxley and Jericho both being able to be showcased in NJPW, and it benefits NJPW because it adds star power to their roster. Let’s hope this kind of working arrangement continues, especially with Kenny Omega eventually returning. Either way, this is good news for NJPW and AEW both.
