WWE: It took a couple of months, but the new era finally arrived

The New Era of WWE was promised along time ago. But, most never really believed the company’s claim after months of things not changing. It’s finally here.

You remember not long ago when Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Shane McMahon, And Triple H stood in the middle of the ring and promised that things were going to change and WWE was entering a new era because the product was terrible?

That was seven months ago.

Since then, we’ve seen them virtually take away general managers and commissioners. They’ve even gave us the dumb Wild Card Rule. Beyond that, not much had changed.

Something about June 2019 brought on a kind of tipping point for the fans and wrestlers alike. June was just a mess. There were Twitter wars going on all over the place while lot of people completely stopped tuning into most WWE shows. Things were definitely looking bleak.

Then, things took a bit of a weird turn when Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were announced to be taking over Monday Night Raw And Smackdown Live as Executive Directors. I was willing to see where things go.

Welp …

I decided to tune in for the first time in a while. It turned out to be the right night to tune in because things definitely popped off — literally.

Lord have mercy. I was just collecting my food and I heard a bunch of popping and fireworks — and fireworks. Like Independence Day?! Oh My God.

Anyway, I completely stopped what I was doing to what the heck is going on? I got the sense something seriously went wrong. That is until people started bringing up the Paul Heyman vibes.

The amount of explosions, the crowd’s reaction, the camera work, Corey Graves swearing on commentary (which wasn’t even bleeped out) and the tone in the other voices of the commentary team gave this a very real and shocking feel.

It definitely did a good job at grabbing the audiences attention all through out the show. That was just the beginning of the show!

Beyond that, Samoa Joe attacked and passed out Kofi Kingston. After, The Undertaker pulled up on Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre with a warning.

Then the NXT Tag Team Champions, for whatever reason, made their debut on the main roster.

Mike and Maria Kanellis got some random air time with Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins when, suddenly, Maria said she was pregnant and that’s when everything hit the fan, especially after he turned around and asked her how could be pregnant. She basically read him like a pamphlet and exited stage left. Something tells me we’ll be seeing more of that, for some reason.

Anyway, AJ Styles and Ricochet had another match right after they just got down smacking the dog stew out of each other. Ricochet won the match right before being attacked by AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

To say it was the best overall episode of Monday Night Raw in a very long time might be a bit of a understatement. Kofi Kingston flipping off Samoa Joe on SmackDown Live was interesting as well. They didn’t blur it out or turn the camera in a weird direction or anything. Interesting.

I see folks getting excited for this edginess. However, I wouldn’t suggest anyone getting too comfortable just yet.  It’s too early to tell whether or not things will get better or go back to the they were before.

I just hope the women’s division doesn’t take a hit with this new era. They haven’t exactly been given the most time and quality story lines lately and that’s not good.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
