2. Samoa Joe

There have been very few Superstars in the WWE as good at being a heel than Samoa Joe over the past couple of years.  The Samoan Submission Machine has been an elite heel for a while and has been one of the most consistent Superstars, but a world title has eluded him.

The most recent Superstar to finally reach the top of the mountain after long last has been Kofi Kingston, who had one of the greatest matches and moments in WrestleMania history by defeating Daniel Bryan to win his first-ever WWE Championship. Kofi has followed that up with one of the better WWE Championship reigns in a long time, but that reign could be in jeopardy at Extreme Rules.

Kofi will defend his title against Joe in what could end up being a ladder match if the rumor mills are true.  Regardless of the match stipulation, the threat Joe presents is a real one and Kofi will get his toughest challenge to date as WWE Champion.  Is it finally time for Joe to capture a world title after so long of being a main event threat?  As great as Kofi has been lately, Joe needs a win at Extreme Rules.

Either Superstar would be great options to win, but it feels like it’s now or never for Joe.  He’s gotten many opportunities to capture a world title, but he has yet to win the big one.  It’s starting to feel like if he doesn’t win it as soon as possible, he’ll get lost in the shuffle and not taste world title gold.  Kofi could always win the title back too, but Joe getting another shot if he loses at Extreme Rules is far from a given.

The time has come for Samoa Joe to finally get a chance to prove he’s a true world champion in the WWE.
