WWE United States Champion: Ricochet (c) vs. AJ Styles

Our next match saw Ricochet defend the United States Championship against AJ Styles, but Ricochet was at a disadvantage before the bell even rang. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson attacked Ricochet before the match started, beating him down some in the center of the ring before AJ asked them to stop and laughed off the attack.

The bell sounded and AJ Styles took control early, beating down the champion. Ricochet didn’t let that last long though, using his aerial skill and agility to turn the tide a few times and keep some momentum in his column.

However, AJ Styles turned the tide with some offense outside of the ring before plotting a methodical pace and beginning to tear down Ricochet bit by bit. AJ Styles even showed his power, whipping Ricochet into the turnbuckle so hard it turned the champion inside out.

AJ continued the onslaught, but Ricochet finally managed to turn the tide. After a stiff enziguri, he hit a big springboard strike to take AJ down. The champion then dove to the outside, taking down Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to keep them from interfering.

He followed it up with a springboard moonsault on AJ Styles that garnered a near fall. AJ tried to turn the tides with a springboard reverse DDT, but Ricochet countered it and hit a Northern Lights Suplex for another near fall.

Styles fought through it, pulling the tide back to him by suplexing Ricochet into the turnbuckle. He followed it with a torture rack, but Ricochet slipped out for a quick near fall, only for Styles to plant him seconds later with a reverse DDT for a near fall of his own.

Styles kept the offense flying, later looking to finish things with the Styles Clash, but Ricochet rolled through into a pinfall attempt that Styles kicked out of. A striking combination and pele kick kept Styles in control, planting Ricochet with a brainbuster moments later.

At this point, Styles looked frustrated that he hadn’t been able to put Ricochet away just yet. The champion started to roll once again and nailed a springboard shooting star press, but AJ’s foot was underneath the bottom rope and broke up the pinfall attempt.

Anderson suddenly inserted himself, getting kicked hard by Ricochet for his trouble. However, while the referee was watching Anderson, Luke Gallows was able to shove Ricochet and cause him to lose his footing on the ropes.

This was just enough of a distraction for AJ Styles to suddenly ascend the turnbuckle and get Ricochet in his clutches. Styles planted Ricochet off the second rope with a devastating Styles Clash to pick up the win and capture the US Championship.

Grade: A+, Another really fantastic match. AJ Styles looked in perfect form back as a heel, tearing into the athletic champion. Ricochet had some amazing moments and looked very strong since Gallows and Anderson had to help Styles win.
