Impact Wrestling has a rematch set for Tessa Blanchard and Sami Callihan, but this time the winner will earn a shot at the Impact World Championship.

On tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling, we got a unique concept known as the Mashup Tournament. This one-night event featured eight teams of bitter enemies forced to work together in hopes of victory.

For the team that could set aside their differences long enough to secure victory, they’d move on to face each other at Impact Wrestling Unbreakable on August 2 to determine the number one contender for the Impact World Championship.

The first round consisted of four separate tag team matches with the winning teams all facing off in a four-way to see who would emerge from the tournament victorious. The following are the results of the first round:

  • Moose & Eddie Edwards def. Rohit Raju & Cody Deaner
  • Jake Crist & Wentz def. Rich Swann & Madman Fulton
  • Michael Elgin & Willie Mack def. Ace Austin & Stone Rockwell
  • Sami Callihan & Tessa Blanchard def. Trey & Dave Crist

This set the stage for a monumental main event featuring all four teams, which turned into a predictably chaotic contest. In the end, it was a spike piledriver by Sami Callihan followed by a Magnum from Tessa Blanchard that put Jake Crist away and allowed Blanchard to score the pinfall.

As soon as the bell rang, tensions between Blanchard and Callihan started to bubble back up. They were quickly back in each others facing delivering trash talk, and now the stage is set for one of the biggest rematches Impact Wrestling has had in recent history.

More from Impact Wrestling

The first clash between Tessa Blanchard and Sami Callihan at Impact Wrestling Slammiversary turned out to be an instant classic, though it was clear how special the match would be before the bell even rang.

The bar has been set high, but their next collision isn’t just personal. Tessa Blanchard has a chance at redemption, but more importantly, a win would put her next in line to face Brian Cage for the Impact World Championship.

It wouldn’t be the first time Blanchard and Cage have crossed paths, but it would certainly be a first for Impact Wrestling. On top of that, Blanchard is now only two victories away from being the first woman to capture the Impact World Championship.
