While there has been much dispute arguing that Becky Lynch should have been on the WWE 2K20 cover by herself, Roman Reigns is just as deserving.

As you may have caught the news earlier this weekend, we learned that WWE 2K20 will feature both Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns on the cover of the video game. For the past year or so, fans long expected The Man to make the cover spot, but seeing The Big Dog right beside was a pleasant surprise. Well, pleasant might be putting it generously when, really, the majority reaction was the opposite.

Truth be told, fans on both sides of the fence felt like they had something to complain about. Fans of Becky felt like she deserved the cover all to herself while fans of Roman debated why Becky deserved to be on the cover to begin with. It sparked this ridiculous Twitter war last weekend between the two – let’s call them factions. Here’s a wild thought: maybe, just maybe, both of these WWE Superstars deserve to be on the WWE 2K20 cover just as much as the other does.

The reasons why Becky Lynch deserves the cover is pretty self-explanatory. The last calendar year of WWE television was very much the year of The Man as she dominated wrestling headlines and talking points consistently. Even to this day, she remains the most over Superstar on the main roster. Not only that, but she successfully took the ball that WWE gave to her and ran with it. Not just onscreen, but behind the scenes as well with a boat load of press runs. She had to become a poster child overnight.

Meanwhile, Roman Reigns has served as that poster child for the better part of the past five years. While Lynch has been embraced with open arms from audiences ever since she took a swing on Charlotte at SummerSlam, Reigns’ push has been vilified before he even won his career defining Royal Rumble match in 2015. Yet, no matter what, he’s always come into work 100% professional and did his job despite being booed to death. Again, both onscreen and behind the scenes.

In fact, all things considered, it’s a little surprising that it took this long for Reigns to make the cover of a 2K game.

I don’t want to trivialize the former Universal Champion’s cover spot by bringing up his cancer scare from earlier this year, but his leukemia diagnosis is an important part of why he’s on the cover. No, not out of pity, but for a theme that ties into the same reason Becky is on the cover: both had the best comeback stories of the last year.

WrestleMania 34 saw Becky Lynch on the pre-show in a meaningless Battle Royal spot. The following August, she started getting the loudest ovations on the roster. And of course, WrestleMania 35 saw her become the first woman to win the main event of a Mania.

Roman Reigns, first as a character, was struggling to defeat Brock Lesnar over and over until he finally toppled The Beast at SummerSlam. Sadly, within two months, the man behind the character suffered some real turmoil when he discovered his leukemia diagnosis. Thankfully, he returned at the tail end of February to tell us his cancer was in remission. His won his first singles match back at WrestleMania a month or so later.

Both of Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns’ stories were two of the most important and inspirational stories to come out of the wrestling community this year. It makes perfect sense for them both to share the cover of WWE 2K20.

Roman deserves it. Becky deserves it. They both deserve it just as much as the other. So instead of getting in debates and Twitter wars over something as trivial as a video game cover, especially when there are much bigger issues afoot in the world these days, just be happy for them.

Or don’t, I don’t care what you do with your life, but don’t make such a big fuss over nothing.
