WWE: Lin-Manuel Miranda should serenade us at WrestleMania
Lin-Manuel Miranda was in attendance at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff, and the news that he’s a fan means we definitely need him at WWE WrestleMania 36.
NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff finished off a spectacular event with the WWE United Kingdom Championship match between Tyler Bate and Walter, and Lin-Manuel Miranda was in attendance to witness all the action.
As Miranda revealed on Twitter, he attended the event while on vacation in Wales. He posted a video, seen below, of the crowd (including him) reacting to Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews capturing the NXT UK Tag Team Titles.

Miranda also praised Cesaro’s performance, saying “Cesaro is my new religion. Dude spun his opponent for like a minute straight.” Miranda’s ‘new religion’ responded to the praise.

With the revelation that Lin-Manuel Miranda is a wrestling fan, the 39-year-old musical genius has the opportunity to add an entirely new accolade to his resume. While Miranda is surely and deservedly proud of his three Tony Awards, three Grammys, one Emmy, Academy Award nomination, and Pulitzer Prize, he could put himself on the path to the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame with a performance at WrestleMania 36.

The list of options for Miranda at the show are nearly endless. WrestleMania always begins with a rendition of ‘America the Beautiful,’ which has been sung by Ozzy Osbourne, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Willie Nelson, Little Richard, Boyz II Men, Ashanti, and John Legend, to name a few.
Lin-Manuel Miranda could join that already star-studded lineage of performers, but it’s not the only option for the mastermind behind Hamilton. His skill as a wordsmith and rapper could stand out with an original song for a WWE performer’s entrance. Cesaro, being Miranda’s ‘new religion,’ seems like the optimal choice.
Of course, WWE may not want to give Cesaro an elaborate entrance if he’s relegated to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal again. Should this edgier version of Bayley continue all the way to WrestleMania, she would be another prime choice for a custom entrance with Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The truth is that almost anything Lin-Manuel Miranda touches turns to gold, and being a part of WWE WrestleMania 36 in any way at all would surely be something special.
Now we just have to make sure it happens. If only there was some form of social media that we could use to tell WWE and Lin-Manuel Miranda to do this. Oh, well. Here’s hoping.
