It will not enhance Baron Corbin’s character

Fans don’t like Baron Corbin. It is debated if fans genuinely dislike the character Baron Corbin, or if Baron Corbin is so good at being disliked that he is the puppet master playing with the fans reactions. There is a laundry list of reasons to dislike him. He is smug, arrogant, entitled, and doesn’t care what the fans think of him.

The reaction he received after retiring Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35 was deafening, and unlike other wrestlers, Corbin reveled in the boos.

Corbin can flourish post King of the Ring because fans dislike the wrestler who is complaining about how he was screwed. That is where he is.

He can clash with the new King of the Ring Chad Gable. The new King of the Ring Chad Gable could even punish Corbin for his transgressions by lobbying to put him in unwinnable feuds.

Past winners of The King of the Ring have used the moniker of “King” to become a smug, arrogant, or entitled antagonist. Corbin already has those character nuances. Winning King of the Ring won’t help Corbin gain anything he doesn’t already have.

Instead, winning the King of the Ring can help Chad Gable’s character rise to new heights.
