Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship]

Bassam Kaado: When it came to SummerSlam, I thought Orton was taking the title. But, with the rivalry being extended and the doubling down on everything from the MSG table spot to the overuse of the “STUPID” gimmick, it seems like they will stick to the Kofi redemption story. Kofi will pin The Viper and finally solidify his title reign with a big name opponent the caliber of Randall Keith Orton. I, for one, am ready for this story to end.

Bryan Heaton: Imagine thinking SmackDown is going to move to FOX with Randall Keith Orton as World Champion, as opposed to Kofi Kingston. Look at the ads FOX is running — Kofi is front and center, and Orton is just a move and a pose in the background. SmackDown is Kofi’s show right now, and he’ll retain the WWE Championship to steer the ship into its new era on its new network.

Chris Jeter: Considering the whack finish WWE gave us the last time these two wrestled, I expect a more definitive outcome on this show. Assuming we get that, Kofi will be the one with his hand raised in cathartic victory. Orton doesn’t need the title at this point in his career.

Chris Schad: I think they want to set up Kofi and Orton for a Hell In A Cell match next month. As long as it doesn’t involve another double count-out, I’m cool with that, but I think this becomes more of an aggressive encounter between the two. Because having Orton lose to Kofi would stop his momentum coming into this match (and for a HIAC rematch), I think Orton wins to have Kofi go to hell to get his title back.

Joe Anthony Myrick: I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that no one wins this one. I expect a no contest. Which sucks, given we had a non-finish last month, too, at SummerSlam, but I feel like WWE might stretch this out to one more month and end the feud at Hell in a Cell. But to justify locking these two in a cage, I think interference from both guys’ teams at Clash might play a factor into a non-finish no contest.

Mark Justice: My prediction for this match may come ‘outta nowhere’, so stay with me. I’m a huge fan of both men and their storyline was well done, but I know I have an unpopular opinion when it comes to my ‘stupid’ prediction.

Yes, Kofi Kingston has been an impeccable WWE Champion. Yes, he may never get back into the main event scene if he loses the WWE Championship right now. However, Randy Orton is the ideal opponent to dethrone Kofi Kingston because he is Kingston’s greatest arch nemesis who hindered his advancement to the main event scene to begin with. On top of that, Orton created a Legacy 2.0 with The Revival, which is definitely something to ‘mark’ out for.

If Orton wins, the feud could be extended into a faction war, which should be a treat. So I’m going with Mr. RKO for a big swerve. Sorry, Kofi but there’s ‘trouble in paradise.’

Maysum Hudda: A rivalry 10 years in the making will have its next chapter Sunday and an upset is looming. I believe Randy Orton will dethrone Kofi Kingston and become a 10 time WWE Champion. With the move to FOX less than a month away, Randy Orton will be crowned the new WWE Champion on the blue brand as a household name among long-time casual fans makes for good TV on a new network. Sound familiar AEW? I do see this feud continuing into Hell In A Cell because let’s face it, outside of Kofi, there aren’t any real contenders for the title.

Ryan Anderson: Randy Orton has reached the level where he doesn’t have to have the WWE
Championship. Kofi needs to come out of this feud as a clear winner. Even with their disappointing SummerSlam match, this feud has been what Kofi needed to develop his championship reign. Having a main event feud with an established star, developing new layers to a new champion’s story is pivotal. It makes sense not to end this feud here. Hell in a Cell has been a great climax for feuds in this past. Kofi should still win this match, but it should not be the end of the feud
