4. Johnny Gargano Defeats Shane Thorne

Three weeks ago on WWE NXT, former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano made his future in NXT known. This rebel heart is not going anywhere, for it looks forward to not missing a beat on the yellow brand.

As the pillar of NXT, Gargano wants the brand to feel like a component of the main roster rather than as a developmental stage. NXT is in his DNA, and it seems that he wants to remain in NXT for life.

Could anyone blame him? NXT has been one of the hottest shows on the WWE network to date. Under the tutelage of COO Triple H, many hardcore wrestling fans around the world can clearly see the brand’s superiority to the more mainstream Raw and SmackDown micromanaged by Chairman Vince McMahon.

When fans wants consistent storytelling, sophisticated in-ring psychology, and impeccable superstar pushes, they watch NXT. Johnny Gargano, one of the most well-known superstars on the roster, wants not only his own character development to remain intact and safe from the sometimes outlandish booking of Raw and SmackDown but also maintain the popularity and legacy of NXT for years to come.

They don’t call him Johnny Takeover for nothing, and this match against Shane Thorne is merely an opportunity to exemplify that. Although Shane Thorne wants the spotlight for himself, he’s gonna have to do a lot more in his NXT career to surpass the greatness of Johnny Wrestling.

Undoubtedly, Gargano should be the safe bet to win this match as Shane Thorne swallows his pride in defeat. This win will be a sufficient momentum boost for Gargano to get back into title pictures and/or meaningful feuds for the next NXT Takeover in November.
