Joey Janela (0-1) vs. Kenny Omega (2-3) – Lights Out Unsanctioned Match

Janela started the match by grabbing a chair right away, but Omega started stomping on him. Omega chopped Janela, but Janela hit one of his own and nailed forearms on Omega. Janela hit a hurricanrana on Omega and then hit a suicide dive on Omega before pulling chairs out from under the ring.

Janela grabbed a ladder and put it in the ring and hit Omega with a forearm again. As Janela stacked the chairs Omega cut him off and hit a chop. Janela threw a chair at Omega but as Janela went back to stacking the chairs, Omega hit the Krusher on Janela into the chairs. Omega called for the Rise of the Terminator and nailed it, but Omega crashed feet first into the guardrails too. Holy crap.

More from All Elite Wrestling

Omega limped onto his feet and walked it off. Omega had some blood on his wrist too, so there was a cut there somewhere. Omega drove Janela into the stairs and pulled a table out from under the ring. Omega put the table in the ring, bowed to the crowd and nailed Janela with a missile dropkick. Omega tried You Can’t Escape, but Janela fought out. Omega didn’t give up and managed to hit it, finishing with the moonsault for a near fall.

Omega went for the snapdragon suplex, but Janela hit a European uppercut and hit Omega with two chair shots before Omega countered with two snap dragon suplexes. Omega then fought with Omega on the apron before Kenny hit a snap dragon suplex on the apron on Janela! Omega climbed the stairs to try and hit a One-Winged Angel off the top of the stairs, but Janela floated over and hit a German suplex off the stairs. Yikes!

Janela set up the stairs near the guardrail and bit a table between them. The table was upside down, so all the metal was facing up. Janela hit a dropkick on Omega and set up the ladder in the corner before throwing Omega into it. Omega reversed an Irish whip that sent Janela into the ladder. Omega blocked going into the ladder face first, but Janela ducked under and hit a German suplex into the ladder.

Janela got a two count. Omega and Janela started exchanging elbows in the ring. Omega killed Janela with a V-Trigger, but Janela followed him with a European uppercut. Omega responded with another V-Trigger, but when Omega went for one more Janela hit a clothesline and a brainbuster, but Omega kicked out.

Janela hit an incredible superplex on Omega as Omega flew off the top rope. Janela went for a Russian leg sweep off the apron through the table, but Omega held onto the ropes and Janela crashed to the floor. Omega tried to powerbomb Janela onto the backside of the table that was in the ring, but Janela back body dropped him onto it. Man, that is how you put out a disk. Don’t do that.

Janela hit a Death Valley Driver on Omega into the ladder and set up the table in the ring. Janela put Omega on the table and climbed the ladder and went for a frog splash off the ladder, but Omega moved and Janela crashed through the table. Omega hit a buckle bomb and spinebuster bomb on Janela. Omega nearly took Janela’s head off with a V-Trigger and went for One-Winged Angel.

Janela fought out and Omega was sent backward, but Omega hit the rebound lariat that Moxley did as Ambrose, and then hit the double arm DDT, but Janela kicked out. Omega went for a full Paradigm Shift, but Janela flipped over him and threw Omega over the top rope through the table at ringside, and it was upside down, meaning Omega crashed into the metal of a second table.

Janela hit a flying foot stomp on Omega with a chair on Omega’s chest, but Omega kicked out. Janela sat Omega in a chair and hit a forearm. Janela said “You’re never going to beat Jon Moxley” and kicked Omega back into the corner. Janela set up four chairs in the corner with Omega laying over the chairs. Janela climbed the top rope, but Omega cut him off and went for a superplex onto the chairs.

Omega and Janela fought in the corner and Omega flipped Janela off the corner onto the tops of the seats of the chair. OUCH. Omega set up a chair in the corner and hit a V-Trigger into the chair in the corner before hitting a One-Winged Angel onto a chair that was standing in the middle of the ring. Holy crap.

Result: Kenny Omega

Rating: ****3/4 (4.75 stars)

This match was incredible. There is no way that these guys could do matches like this every week without breaking down, but holy crap, it was great. The match was insane from start to finish. It had little to no psychology, and it was a total spotfest, but it was a great spotfest.

Overall Rating: **** (4 stars)

This was a fantastic episode of AEW Dark, especially when you consider the main event. Omega and Janela pretty much killed each other, and this isn’t even the worst of stuff that Janela has done in his career. Thankfully, I think both men are okay, but goodness. What a match. Omega looked like the Omega of old, which he needed. Definitely check out AEW Dark this week.
