Chris Jericho took on Darby Allin in the main event of this episode of AEW Dynamite for the AEW World Championship. Was Jericho able to defend his title, or was Allin able to score the upset? Read on.

AEW Dynamite opened when SCU came out for their match in the Tag Team title tournament, but the Lucha Brothers attacked them from behind and Pentagon Jr. hit a piledriver on Daniels on the ring ramp!

Scorpio Sky ran out to make the save and chased them off. Medics came out with The Young Bucks and CIMA and they took Daniels out on a stretcher.

Sky asked the ref to step in, as Sky took off his shirt and taped his wrists. It seems Christopher Daniels is out of the AEW Tag Team title tournament.

SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) vs. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta) (2-2)

Kazarian started the match going right after Chuck Taylor, but Taylor floated over as Kazarian ran at the turnbuckle and drove Kaz into the corner before hitting a double team cutter for a 2 count. Taylor hit a piledriver and Trent hit a knee for a near fall, but Sky broke it up. Trent hit a German suplex on Sky and then the Best Friends worked over Kazarian on the outside, with Trent hitting a spear on Kaz.

Trent put Kazarian on the top rope and went for a superplex, but Kazarian fought out. Taylor put Trent on his shoulders and they managed to hit the superplex on Kazarian for the two count. Kazarian managed to escape the corner and tag out to Sky. Sky ran wild wearing a sneaker and a sock and tore both knees out of his pants.

SCU hit a combo tornado DDT for a near fall. The Best Friends were able to fight back and Trent hit a running knee on Sky before both men hugged. They hit a Doomsday Flying Knee on Kazarian, but he kicked out. Trent tried to piledrive Kaz on the apron, but Sky saved him and Trent got backdropped on the apron. Kazarian went for a powerbomb, and Sky tried to hit a combo back stabber, but Sky was a little late and turned it into a dropkick on Trent’s head for the pinfall.

Result: SCU

Rating: *** (3 stars)

John Silver and Alex Reynolds vs. Santana & Ortiz (1-0)

Santana and Ortiz squashed them quickly with the Street Sweeper.

Result: Santana & Ortiz (1-0)

Jericho cut a promo about how Santana & Ortiz were doing exactly what he said they would, and he then challenged The Young Bucks on their behalf for a match at Full Gear.

A hype video aired for Cody and his match with Chris Jericho, and it was great. AEW needs to do more videos like this, as they are fantastic. AEW could make good usage of these videos to get these newer acts over. I would like to see AEW use them for the women, and for Hangman Page. Riho, for example, cut an amazing promo on the Road to AEW on TNT, but it never aired on Dynamite, but it should have.
