Naomichi Marufuji vs. Michael Elgin

I wish I could just begin and end this entry by echoing the words of a current Raw Tag Team Champion, but then I’d be showing my bias. Can’t do that now, can we?

Last month, Elgin recalled facing and defeating some of the biggest names in wrestling during his time in Japan, alluding to Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. But one name he never encountered was Naomichi Marufuji. He challenged arguably the best wrestling on the Pro Wrestling Noah roster today, and thanks to Impact’s working relationship with Marufuji, Elgin will get his wish.

I think it’s pretty obvious that Elgin wins this one. Working relationship or not, Elgin is actually on the Impact roster and it wouldn’t make much sense to have an outsider come in and beat him.

Winner: Elgin

World Tag Team Championship – The North vs. RVD/Rhino vs. Mack/Swann

The North have been surprisingly dominant and just as impressive since they beat Ortiz and Santana back in July for the titles. Now, they face perhaps their biggest challenge yet when they defend against two ECW originals and a team comprised of a former X-Division Champion and a former NWA National Champion.

Rhino and RVD upset The North in a non-title tag match last month, while Willie Mack and Rich Swann have beaten some of the best teams on the roster since forming their unit. Chances don’t look great in The North’s favor, but I feel like as hot of a team as they are, they still have some fire in the tank to keep that momentum going and need to retain tonight.

Winners: The North
