Finn Balor

With Johnny Gargano still off TV selling the shellacking Finn Balor handed to him two weeks ago, the inaugural Universal Champion used his idle time to tease a potential union with The Undisputed Era AND a possible reunion with his former Bullet Club cohorts and the man who took his spot as the leader of the faction.

This situation developed toward the end of the Tommaso Ciampa/Keith Lee/Matt Riddle vs. The OC six-man tag main event.

Following a rare NXT ref bump, Ciampa seemed to have the United States Champion where he wanted him, but as he prepared to execute the Fairy Tale Ending, Balor’s entrance music filled the Full Sail Arena.

Balor sauntered down the ramp and, with Styles watching, dropped Riddle with a 1916 in the same spot where he felled Gargano two weeks prior.

What came next surely caused almost every fan to shriek at glass-shattering octaves: Styles threw up the “Two Sweet” hand gesture towards Balor, which Balor answered with his gun pose.

This didn’t last long, as Adam Cole — who was attacked with his UE stablemates by The OC at the start of the show — jumped Styles and behind and seemed to offer Balor a spot in his group.

In a few minutes, the NXT crew planted the seeds for two future matches while also teasing some team-ups without tipping their hand.

Aside from the main roster-esque non-finish, this was an all-around success.
