It was a match that was thrown together with minimal story attached, but both men put on a great match. Their chemistry was evident from the moment the bell rang. What excited fans the most was the thought of what both men could do with a proper story.

Riddle has been as good as advertised since coming to NXT. There was understandable concern if WWE was going to force Riddle to conform to their ideas of what a superstar should be. That appears to not be the case; WWE has made him a better performer by blending what makes him a generational talent and what makes WWE the top wrestling company in the world.

Riddle and Cole can tell a story with months to build to a match at NXT Takeover at WrestleMania weekend. Riddle would have insurmountable odds stacked against him by The Undisputed Era in order to get to Cole at Takeover.

Riddle having to knock off every member of The Undisputed Era just to get to Cole, and then defeating a wrestler like Cole, only makes Matt Riddle’s win more impressive.
