5. Blackpool

Yes, we’re counting the NXT UK shows. Not just because they are still, technically, a part of the NXT brand as a whole, but the TakeOver events hailing from the United Kingdom were just flipping awesome. Yes, I just used “flipping” in place of a curse word. Hashtag no regrets.

Anyway, NXT UK first debuted as a show back in Oct. 2018 and within three months had its very own TakeOver show. The brand’s TakeOver debut in Blackpool proved to be a smashing success almost instantly, with an early match of the year candidate in Mustache Mountain vs. Grizzled Young Veterans opening the show. It was a thrilling to start to what proved to be a thrilling night.

The thrills continued as Raw’s Finn Balor made a cameo to replace an injured Travis Banks and face the very protege he trained once upon a time ago, a cocky Jordan Devlin.

They nearly stole the show, as did Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm’s Women’s Championship match while Dave Mastiff and Eddie Dennis’ No DQ match was a fun romp, all before Joe Coffey and Pete Dunne offered the crowd a hard hitting (albeit, occasionally sloppy) main event contest.

Oh yeah, and did I mention that WALTER made his shocking debut? Because he did.
