It’s been a few years since Los Angeles hosted a WrestleMania event, but it looks like WWE could be going back to the City of Angels sooner rather than later.

The last time that WWE brought WrestleMania to Los Angeles was back in 2005 for WrestleMania 21. That was the year that John Cena and Batista gave breakout performances winning their first World Heavyweight Championships, Eddie Guerrero stole The Show of Shows one last time with Rey Mysterio, and Edge won the first ever Money in the Bank briefcase.

The Staples Center was host to a bevy of other memorable moments that night, but those were the highlights that made this Mania a fan favorite for many. Now, Los Angeles is once again putting its hat in the race to host another WrestleMania show in the future.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (per IWNerd), Los Angeles is anxious to host another WrestleMania show. Specifically in 2021 for WrestleMania 37. However, while it looks like that interest is shared by WWE, the company would like to wait until WrestleMania 38 in 2022 to bring their brand to California again.

The reason being because although LA wants Mania there in 2021 to get ready for the Super Bowl in 2022, WWE wants to wait until 2022 so that they can announce a bigger attendance record than the Super Bowl when they hold it in the same arena the following year.

Petty reasons to hold off a Mania in LA aside, bringing WrestleMania back to the city is a win-win for all parties involved. For WWE, hosting the Grandest Stage of Them All around the corner from Hollywood again is sure to bring them that mainstream celebrity attention they so desire while Los Angeles benefits from bringing a huge spectacle to their city.

Then, the fans, of course, get to enjoy the biggest wrestling extravaganza in the world in front of a hot crowd in (literally) hot city.
