AEW Dynamite: Results, Highlights, and Grades for Jan 1st, 2020

Riho (C) (0-0 in singles action) vs Nyla Rose (0-0 in singles action) vs Britt Baker (0-0 in singles action) vs Hikaru Shida (0-0 in singles action)

Nyla attacks everyone before the bell but gets taken down by a kendo stick shot from Shida. Shida hits a running knee strike and attempts to cover Nyla quickly as the bell rings but can’t get the three count. Shida and Riho trade strikes as Baker also attempts to get into the fray. Nyla gets a table out from under the ring. Shida and Nyla fight outside the ring until Riho flies out and takes out Shida. Baker saves Riho from being placed on the table by Nyla as we go to commercial.

Back from the ad break, Shida pulls Nyla off a pinfall attempt and flips her over her head. Shida goes for her Falcon Arrow but Nyla powers out and hits her signature Coast to Coast knee strike. Nyla places Shida on the table on the outside and then hits a INSANE senton onto the table. Riho catches Nyla with a diving foot stomp as Nyla slides in. Baker attacks Nyla as well and attempts the Lockjaw but can’t lock it in. Baker locks in a sleeper but gets powerbombed for her trouble. Nyla looks to have the pinfall but Riho breaks it up.

Riho hits her signature roll up diving stomp and another dicing stomp off the top tope bur Baker is there to stop the pinfall. Baker hits her spinning fishermans buster but its not enough to get the win. Shida suplexes Baker into the ring and takes down Nyla and Riho. Shida is in control and hits a backbreaker on Baker but Nyla suplexes her into the corner. Nyla is now in control and almost hits a senton on both Riho and Shida. Shida and Riho both hit Nyla but Shida gets control of the contest

Shida hits a massive Falcon Arrow on Nyla and gets a super close two count. Baker sweeps Shida to the ground but gets rolled up and almost gets pinned. Riho flies in and rolls up Baker for the surprise three count.

Result: Riho (1-0 in 2020)

Rating: **** ( 4 stars)

Nyla attacks Riho after the match and sets up another table. Nyla then hits a MASSIVE splash through the table as Riho lays motionless in the ring.

A non-stop wild match that showcased everyone well and successfully set up a future feud between Nyla and Riho.

Joey Janela is set to cut a promo backstage but gets blinsided with a low blow from his ex-girlfriend Penelope Ford, who then walks off with her new beau Kip Sabian.
