It looks like negotiations between ROH and Marty Scurll have concluded positively, albeit in an incredibly surprising turn of events: The Villain is now the promotion’s lead booker, per the grounds of his latest contract.

It was just earlier this week that we learned of new reports about Ring of Honor trying their hardest to get Marty Scurll to sign a new ROH contract. Reportedly, the company went as far as to offer him the monetary equivalent of what WWE Superstars make on the main roster.

While that very well may be true, it was also suggested in the report that there were some other (at the time, unknown) perks to the contract offered. Today, we seem to have learned exactly what those perks may have been. According to PWInsider, in addition to a pay raise, the latest contract that the founder of Villain Enterprises has signed directly appoints him as their new head booker.

The prior head booker, Delirious, is still working with the company in a creative role and will continue to do so alongside Scurll, but starting this weekend, The Villain will be used backstage as the lead booker for matches and storylines going forward. He already had a huge role working backstage during ROH’s Atlanta show and offered them the idea for a free Baltimore show taking place on Feb. 9.

In edition to continuing to wrestle on ROH soil in between booking shows, Scurll will also be allowed to continue wrestling for NWA, as he is currently involved there in a World Title feud with Nick Aldis.

PWInsider has not learned the exact length of the former Bullet Club member’s new contract, but speculates it to be at least a two year deal. We’ll provide updates as they present themselves.
