The BroserWeights (Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle)

Going into Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic quarterfinal match against NXT UK’s Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster, it was fair to wonder how the two would mesh as a team: would they have some cool combination moves or would they work like two singles stars that were shoehorned together?

Well, considering that their first attempt at tandem offense was a flawlessly executed X-Plex/Powerbomb combo that transitioned into a knee lift/roundhouse kick mash-up, it’s safe to say that these two went with the former and the match was all the better for it.

Throughout the approximately 16 minutes of ring time, these two teams did everything in their power to create a WWE 2K match with psychology (and without any nightmare fuel glitches) and the end result was one of the best tag team matches of the year. Unfortunately, it had to end, and a Bitter End from Dunne to Andrews into Riddle’s knee was what brought this joyous romp to a close.

This match showcased how great Andrews and Webster are as a team, but most importantly, it confirmed my feeling that Dunne and Riddle need to remain a team until the sun dies out (or until one of them retires, whichever comes first).
