Nikki Cross eliminates Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have kept a tight alliance since May, with a Tag Team Title run laced in between. For a duo that everyone expected only was formed so that a heel Bliss could have a babyface sidekick that she would eventually turn on, the partnership has been surprisingly successful and entertaining to watch.

It’s hard not to watch their chemistry blossom onscreen from an originally mismatched pairing and not be endeared by them both in the ring and in promo segments like the one above. However, on the last episode of SmackDown, the former Women’s Tag Team Champions promised that they would not let the Women’s Rumble “every woman for herself” tagline get in between their friendship, right before Cross gave Bliss a suspicious glance.

This read to me like a bit of foreshadowing, which tells me one will eliminate the other on Jan. 26. Of course, given Bliss’ past as a cowardly two-faced heel, fans will immediately assume Bliss will eliminate Cross, but that is where the swerve comes into play.

Cross has often been viewed in this storyline as a naive babyface, but Cross could use that impression to her advantage and eliminate Bliss when she least expects it. It may not plant the seeds for a tag team breakup, but it will certainly make for a surprising moment.
