WWE Worlds Collide 2020: NXT vs. NXT UK – Official preview and predictions

NXT Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Toni Storm

These two have been feuding for just over a year now. Rhea Ripley originally defeated Toni Storm in the finals of the tournament to crown the first ever NXT UK Women’s Champion. The following January on the brand’s first TakeOver in Blackpool, England, Storm managed to get her win back to capture the title, plus a tie-breaker later in the month.

One year later, Storm has lost her title to Kay Lee Ray and failed to retrieve the belt at the end of their feud. Meanwhile, Ripley herself had a breakout year capped off by her winning the NXT Women’s Championship on the final episode of NXT of 2019.

Fast forward to the first NXT episode of 2020 and Storm was the first of many women to challenge Ripley for her title. The Nightmare accepted the challenged for a title bout at Worlds Collide.

Much like Garza, this will serve as Ripley’s first televised title defense and similar to Garza, I don’t expect the title to change hands so quickly. Especially considering how hard WWE went in pushing RIpley in 2019. I don’t imagine that for all of the effort they went through last year in trying to make her look like a mega star, they won’t be so quick to turn the new champ into the old champ after just a month.
