WWE Royal Rumble 2020: Full Match Card Preview and Predictions

Roman Reigns (w/Usos) vs. King Corbin (w/RooDolph) [Falls Count Anywhere Match]
Since Baron Corbin became King of the Ring, he has not lost to Roman Reigns. Although it is well appreciated that WWE is protecting their King of the Ring, Reigns needs to finally defeat King Corbin at this PPV to not only end this rivalry once and for all but also look strong for the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
The WWE Universe has clearly had enough with the dog food embarrassments in SmackDown main events every week. These two superstars need to start fresh and go their separate ways on the road to WrestleMania 36 with Reigns refocusing on the Universal Championship he never lost and King Corbin finding a way to make other lives miserable.
Considering that the storyline has been based on big dog food, Reigns choosing a Falls Count Anywhere stipulation for this match came out from left field. However, such a stipulation should give the Usos and RooDolph an opportunity to interfere freely without any screwy finishes.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan [Universal Championship: Strap Match]
Obviously, ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt is retaining the Universal Championship. Considering that this storyline has been based on hair, Daniel Bryan choosing a Strap Match stipulation for this match also came out from left field.
Despite the fact that Bryan used the excuse of The Fiend always running away to announce a Strap Match, it would have been more telling if Bryan’s pulling of Wyatt’s hair was the secret Rambling Rabbit was referring to in regards to defeating him at this PPV. This would draw some significant parallels to a prominent biblical figure, Samson.
In the Book of Judges, 13-16, Samson was an Israelite who followed the interdictions of Nazirite life, one of which was not cutting his hair. Like Bray Wyatt, Samson was a man of prodigious strength and unstoppable power, but his strength and power were depleted after his lover, Delilah, cut his hair.
It will be interesting to see if any of these parallels are addressed in the upcoming encounter and Bryan pulls more hair out to eventually beat the Fiend and avenge the hair Wyatt pulled out from Bryan’s head. However, the secret will probably not be revealed until WrestleMania 36, so Wyatt should be the safe bet to retain the Universal Championship here.
Prediction: ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt
