WWE Rumors: The Fiend expected to have a lengthy world title reign
Bray Wyatt will defend the WWE Universal Championship this Sunday at Royal Rumble vs. Daniel Bryan, but don’t expect him to lose it before WrestleMania.
Since the fallout of SmackDown’s final episode of 2019, Daniel Bryan has been booked to face Bray Wyatt’s Fiend at the Royal Rumble this Sunday for the WWE Universal Championship. And on the last episode of SmackDown last Friday, that match was made into a Strap Match.
The rules of a Strap Match are complicated for those who have never seen one before, but all readers have to know for the sake of this piece is that Bray Wyatt (who has not lost a match ever since rebooting himself as The Fiend) does not need to be pinned or submitted to lose his championship.

For the first time since winning the title in October, The Fiend’s title is in jeopardy and there is an actual threat that he may lose it. However, that threat is unlikely in lieu of recent reports from the always trustworthy Tom Colohue over at Sportskeeda.
In the latest episode of his podcast, Dropkick DiSKussions, Colohue admits that everything that he has heard from inside sources suggests that The Fiend is not losing his title anytime soon. Furthermore, Bray Wyatt is actually expected to have “a long title reign.”
As Colohue points out, a reign that lasts at least until this year’s WrestleMania would be a reign considered “fairly long,” but if he were to lose it this Sunday after holding it since Oct. 31, then it would be pretty short.
Of course, even if these are the plans going forward for The Fiend, keep in mind that plans change at the drop of a dime in WWE on any given day of the week. Again, the often protected Fiend doesn’t have to be pinned to lose his belt, so we’ll have to wait and see until this Sunday to see if he really retains.
