WWE: Becky Lynch feels invincible, and that isn’t a problem…yet
Becky Lynch finally defeated Asuka at the Royal Rumble Pay Per View, and she walked into the Feb. 3 episode of Raw with supreme confidence. And it’s fully deserved. She just has to be careful that it doesn’t devolve into hubris.
The top star in WWE right now, Becky Lynch has become bigger than anyone else on Raw because of her self belief. When everyone told her she couldn’t be a top star, couldn’t win both titles in the main event of WrestleMania over Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, and couldn’t grace the covers of video games and programs, Becky ignored the chatter and proved everyone wrong.
Her desire to show the world that she is unequivocally the best led her to challenge Asuka at the Royal Rumble. She put her title on the line and, in kayfabe, her contract. If Becky lost her title to The Empress, her title reign and aura would have been diminished, but it was a risk she had to take in order to tie up one final loose end.
And at the Rumble, Becky avenged her singles loss to Asuka from one year earlier, retaining the Raw Women’s Title in another absolute classic between the two superstars. Becky fought through Asuka’s submissions before winning with one of her own.

She has every right to be more than brimming with confidence after such a big win. Lynch was wearing “Deal With It” sunglasses indoors. She said her win gave her magical powers and backed it up by stopping an attack from behind by Kairi Sane.
Above all else, Lynch wants to face Asuka again. The Empress challenged the Raw Women’s Champion to a third match, which would likely be the deciding bout of the unofficial best-of-three series.
Lynch relishes the opportunity to face Asuka a third time despite potentially losing her title against someone she’s already beaten. Why? Because, essentially, she wants the “high” of having beaten an opponent of Asuka’s caliber twice.
The fans loved it. They cheered Becky loudly when she entered the ring, accepted Asuka’s challenge, and exited after getting the better of Sane. So much for the Corey Graves idea that fans are tiring of Becky…
Lynch will have to be careful not to let her guard down after beating Asuka at the Rumble, because the former NXT Champion could easily avenge that loss. Like Becky, Asuka is a proud competitor who was once the most unstoppable star in WWE. She won’t forget her loss at the Rumble quickly and will do anything to avenge it.
With Shayna Baszler potentially on the horizon serving as an unseen threat for Becky, the Raw Women’s Champion will have to make sure her confidence doesn’t tip into “overconfidence”. But for the time being, the fans are absolutely loving Becky as the top “Prizefighter” in WWE and a babyface who backs up all her big talk.
Clearly, Lynch is headed for an exciting Road to WrestleMania 36, and a third match between Asuka and Becky before ‘Mania remains as anticipated by fans as the first two. Becky has the type of loyal following that a top star needs to obtain, and they’ll need to be by her side every step of the way for what’s to come. We’re in for more memorable promos, feuds, and matches from one of the world’s absolute best wrestlers.
Over 300 days into her title reign, Lynch is on top of the world, but the upcoming challenges on the way to Tampa Bay will test her in a different way. Right now, she feels invincible after collecting her last debt at the Rumble, but there are challengers waiting to show that Becky must always prove her self as the champ. Such is life for whoever stands at the top of the mountain; the top star can never let their guard down, not for a millisecond.
