John Cena

Another legend of the wrestling business, John Cena has already been announced for a return on the Feb. 28 episode of SmackDown, but I can’t help myself. I have to speculate here, because it would be way too awesome to see Cena and Reigns as tag team partners against Miz and Morrison, especially with all the history Cena and Miz have together. Watching them face off in the ring is awesome, and it’s only surpassed by watching them battle in promos.

Cena and Reigns have faced off in the ring once before, which happened in 2017 at the No Mercy Pay Per View. It was odd seeing the two square off at a “B” PPV, noting that Cena vs. Reigns has been a dream match and is one of the most marquee matches WWE could have put on.

Since then, we’ve been waiting for a WrestleMania rematch between them. While that probably won’t happen for another couple of years – and would probably be Cena’s retirement match – it would be exciting to see them tag together as sort of a “teaser” at something more happening between them in the future.

Or maybe I’m just obsessed with big names and swerves. We saw Chris Jericho announce Jeff Cobb for next week’s Dynamite only for Cobb to appear later in the show, so maybe WWE were throwing a red herring for Feb. 28. Probably not, but it wouldn’t be against the “rules” if Cena showed up on Valentine’s Day as a sweet gift for the WWE Universe before also being on the Feb. 28 episode of SmackDown, right?
