One Last Time: John Cena vs. Edge

With an end to the brand split and a return to Hollywood comes the opportunity to fill out an epic card with several big names, especially ones that have made their own respective marks outside of WWE. John Cena returns to WWE in a few short weeks, but I’m more concerned with who he faces at WrestleMania 37 than WrestleMania 36.

That’s when it hit me. There’s only one right answer. John Cena vs. Edge. One Last Time. I would argue that John Cena and Edge are unequivocally each other’s own greatest rivals. The peak of Edge’s career was launched by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase against John Cena, a briefcase he won at WrestleMania (21) Goes Hollywood.

On top of that, it was his rivalry with Edge that really propelled John Cena into the otherworldly talent he became. Both men brought out the best in each other, and this is the perfect opportunity to close out their rivalry once and for all. I would literally cry if this match was announced, especially if Edge turns out the victor as I expect he will be.

Prediction: Edge

NXT Championship Match: Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Johnny Gargano

With big championship unification matches in this potential card, there’s a question mark hovering over the Royal Rumble. How would the winner’s of the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches fit in to things? Well, for the Men’s side, we could see something similar to what Charlotte Flair is doing now.

Johnny Gargano winning the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble, especially if he’s still an NXT Superstar at the time, would be an unforgettable moment. It may also be the only way to stop a once-again out of control Tommaso Ciampa. If he can take back “Goldie,” there’s nothing Tommaso Ciampa won’t do to keep it in his grasp.

If Gargano fails to take it from him at an NXT TakeOver, he would be backed into a corner and looking for a way to force another opportunity into creation. Winning the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble would give him the opportunity to challenge Ciampa, and to take their legendary rivalry to an entirely new level at The Granddaddy of Them All. Johnny Gargano taking the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa in Hollywood is the definition of a WrestleMania moment.

Prediction: Johnny Gargano is the new NXT Champion

Mask vs. Career: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker

Even if “The Streak” is no longer intact, The Undertaker still demands respect, especially when it comes to WrestleMania. While he seemingly has a new lease on life thanks to recent surgeries, his career still has to end at some point, and there’s no better place to do that than WrestleMania.

On top of that, we finally have a figure with the same terrifying mystique as The Undertaker to ceremoniously snatch the torch from a retiring Deadman’s hands. Bray Wyatt, as “The Fiend,” has been virtually unstoppable since donning his demonic clown mask. The Undertaker, taking this to the next level, would challenge Wyatt to put his mask, and seemingly the source of his power, at risk.

The only comparable thing for The Undertaker to risk would be his very career. Between his disappointing clash with Goldberg at the Saudi Arabia Blood Money Showdown and other less than spectacular matches, this would give The Undertaker the chance to end things on his own terms and go out on his back in one of the most intriguing matches of his lengthy career.

Prediction: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt wins, and The Undertaker retires
