#1 – Shayna Baszler

No. of days as champion (combined): 548
Successful title defenses: 11
Notable appearances: Successfully defended at TakeOver six times, won the Survivor Series 2019 main event

Even when Shayna Baszler lost the finals of the inaugural Mae Young Classic, many fans knew she would be a champion in WWE one day. And that day quickly arrived at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans when she beat Ember Moon to send her packing to Raw.

Much like Asuka, Baszler had a “reign of terror” over the women’s division which was met with mixed criticism. One of the biggest differences in their reigns, though, was the fact that Baszler was actually beaten by one of her biggest rivals in Kairi Sane.

The Queen of Spades was without gold for about 71 days before she took it back at the historic Evolution event to become the first-ever two-time champion. Aside from Moon and Sane, Baszler put away the likes of Dakota Kai, Nikki Cross, Toni Storm, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, Mia Yim, and Candice LeRae when the gold was on the line.

But what about her other accomplishments that help set her above everyone else? Winning 2/3 falls and steel cage matches, competing in the first Women’s WarGames match, and winning the Survivor Series 2019 main event over Bayley and Becky Lynch. Baszler also tied Asuka’s record for women who had the most TakeOver matches under their belt with ten.

After nearly two years of Baszler dominating, it only made sense for Rhea Ripley to get the rub in defeating her once and for all. Now, it remains to be seen if Baszler will return to NXT as she pursues Becky Lynch on Raw. Either way, Baszler has cemented her legacy as perhaps the greatest NXT Women’s Champion of all-time.

It was a tough decision, but I have to rank Shayna Baszler over Asuka due to her longevity, creativity, and ability to adapt to any opposing style or stipulation that was thrown her way. Some may argue that Asuka’s reign was more credible considering Baszler had assistance with some of her wins, but Baszler was afforded a few more huge opportunities that allowed her to take the NXT Women’s Championship to new heights.
