Pitting Nyla Rose against someone with such go away heat that her entire heel stable came to an abrupt end sounds like a bad idea on paper. I understand that booking that same woman as a babyface and inserting her into a high profile title match is too much like asking for trouble, but hear me out.
Yes, the Nightmare Collective didn’t work and, in turn, Brandi Rhodes as a heel did not work. But, after seeing Brandi shed the heel moniker to tend to her husband during last week’s climactic lashing angle, then seeing the crowd react so positively to this part of the angle, it makes me think there’s potential in a babyface run for Brandi Rhodes.
Maybe the positive reaction could be isolated to the circumstances of the lashing moment itself, there is something that crowds may find endearing about a Brandi Rhodes face character. More importantly, there is an interesting story that can be told with Rose going on a rampage throughout the division and, as the person who signed her, Brandi feels obligated to stop her.
Even if the match would ultimately just lead to Rose decimating Brandi with ease, the story could be compelling.
