3.) Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio, the superstar who ended Samoa Joe’s first United States Championship reign and won his first United States Championship in the process, would be a fitting replacement. In fact, he was involved in helping Owens fend off Rollins and his pack of dogs when he handed him a steel pipe in the backstage area.

Although he is now involved in a program with Andrade, Humberto Carillo, and Angel Garza, his involvement in this storyline was apparent and the WWE could always re-insert him back into it as a tag partner for Owens. Since Mysterio failed to capture the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series 2019 and already lost the United States Championship to Andrade, maybe the Raw Tag Team Championships is the next (or potentially last) step for the master of the 619 before he hangs up his boots in 2020.

2.) Ricochet

Ricochet, the superstar who ended Samoa Joe’s second United States Championship reign and won his first United States Championship in the process, would also be a fitting replacement. Since Ricochet failed to capture the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at WWE Super ShowDown 2020 and already lost the United States Championship over the summer, the only championship left for him to pursue on the red brand would be the Raw Tag Team Championships.

Like Mysterio, his lack of direction on the road to WrestleMania indicates that he is a ‘floater’ feasible enough to be placed in this spot. Rollins must not be too happy about Ricochet defeating him in a triple threat match to earn a WWE Championship opportunity at WWE Super ShowDown 2020 in the first place, so he is the one and only superhero Owens needs to rescue him from his continuous losses to Rollins’ faction on WWE Raw.
