Kenny Omega, one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions, has an injured wrist and will not compete for one to two weeks. His partner, “Hangman” Page, is scheduled for a tag team match on Wednesday’s Dynamite with a “mystery partner.” Who could be that mystery partner? Here are five possibilities.

What an experience this “Hangman” Page journey has been.

He went from seemingly the anointed one to losing his steam to becoming arguably the hottest act in the promotion. This was capped not by him and Kenny Omega winning the World Tag Team Championships against SCU (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian), but with their all-timer against The Young Bucks at Revolution a few weeks ago.

However, Omega injured his wrist during the match, and as announced in the tweet above, is out for one to two weeks. This leaves Page without a partner for his scheduled tag team match against “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. The big caveat is that Page is choosing his partner.

(Page was also announced as a member of The Elite for the “Blood & Guts” match against Inner Circle. Page’s response is apropos.)

Page choosing his partner adds an interesting wrinkle, and one to keep in mind as reading: any possible partner has to make sense for Page. It simply cannot be someone for the sake of picking someone; Evil Uno doesn’t work, but neither would someone like Sonny Kiss.

Keep in mind the best selections would have some combination of a history with Page; a history with the Inner Circle; a history with The Elite; a babyface or tweener disposition; and fan support. While wrestlers like Shawn Spears are throwing their names out (even though he’s in the midst of his own search for a partner), Spears wouldn’t fit as a good possibility.

Also, the obvious selection is Jon Moxley, but I didn’t pick him for two reasons. One, it’s too obvious. Two, I want to hope that AEW will sell the beating Moxley took at least one more week.

With that in mind, let’s start with perhaps the wrestler who’s gained the most organic support from the fans.
