Sasha Banks and Bayley are ‘Fine’ … but then again, so were the Bullet Club a few years back and look how that turned out. But we have nothing to worry about … till WWE WrestleMania.

Let’s wind the clocks back to about three years ago. In the same breath, let’s take a brief detour from WWE to NJPW.

In NJPW, the company’s most lethal, cohesive force – the Bullet Club – suddenly wasn’t looking so cohesive. Suddenly, screen time for the top group in New Japan was dominated by in-fighting among its members and ego tripping for control of leadership between Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega. Yet, when the group was clearly at its worst, one phrase remained constant:

“Bullet Club is Fine.”

Clearly, things were not fine.

The same can be said for Bayley and Sasha Banks in WWE right now.

Banks and Bayley are another powerful team of sorts. In this instance, they have dominated SmackDown since last fall. Even before that, their dominance as a duo led to them becoming the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions. Their current cohesion is reason enough why Bayley has held tight to her SmackDown Women’s Championship for the past 158 days and counting.

Speaking of the title, that same title that seemed to strengthen their relationship may wind up tearing them apart, as Paige announced on the last SmackDown that The Boss will be one of five others challenging Bayley for her title at WrestleMania 36.

Things are no longer fine. Well, they are for now at least. Maybe not at WrestleMania, where we should expect to curse a sudden but inevitable betrayal from either of the two. But then again, were things ever fine between them?

Hard to say for sure, when a collision between both competitors have been planted for so long now.

When there is so much footage out there of Sasha Banks conveniently being absent whenever Bayley gets beatdown, at times arriving to the scene just as the beatdown has ended. When there’s months worth of footage of Banks sending longing glances towards Bayley’s title.

Such subtleties and longing glances eventually set the stage for Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega’s collision, at a time when we thought the Bullet Club were so fine. We soon learned that when they appeared fine, Cody was merely buying his time … waiting for the right moment to claim what he truly wanted all along.

For Cody, he wanted the BC throne. For Sasha Banks, maybe she wants a throne of her own. But there’s only one way to claim it: by winning a title that belongs to her supposed best friend.

Bayley and Sasha Banks are not fine. Maybe they never were.
