Elimination Chamber Match, Survivor Series 2002

The first ever Elimination Chamber match in WWE actually occurred at Survivor Series nearly 20 years ago and not at the eponymously-named Elimination Chamber Pay Per View. Since WWE is letting fans watch Survivor Series, as it is a “Big 4” PPV, for free, why not go back to where the concept all started?

Chris Jericho, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Kane, Triple H, and Rob Van Dam were the six men competing in the inaugural version of this hellacious match, and, as you’d expect by the quality of wrestlers in the ring, they absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Van Dam stole the show with some ridiculous moves, but nobody is forgetting the way Kane manhandled Jericho through the pod or the bumps Michaels took.

And of course, the finish with Michaels and Triple H going at it as former best friends was *chef’s kiss*. This match definitely holds up.

The 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble Match

We were so blessed as fans to have witnessed the build to WrestleMania 35, because it featured two wonderful stories. We got #KofiMania, which was the culmination of years of hard work and a legendary wrestler finally getting his due as world champion after being held back by oppressive systemic forces in WWE.

And we also got to see the rise of Becky Lynch, who pointedly called herself “The Man”, as the star of the show in the first ever women’s main event.

Before Lynch became “Becky 2 Belts”, she feuded with Charlotte Flair, putting on the Match of the Year with her greatest rival at the all-women’s Pay Per View Evolution. She then won the Royal Rumble match on the same night she lost an instant classic to her next-greatest main roster rival, Asuka.

Becky’s Royal Rumble victory was incredible, and the match itself should go down in history as one of the greatest Rumble matches ever. Reliving Becky’s meteoric rise to becoming Raw’s top star is always worth your time, and Rumble matches are a hell of a lot of fun, especially when the biggest babyface gets the win.
