#5. Io Shirai vs. Mia Yim – WarGames Advantage – NXT (Nov. 13, 2020)

Io Shirai and Mia Yim were granted the chance to etch their names in the history books when they clashed in the first NXT women’s ladder match. They were rightfully the main event of that Wednesday evening to determine which team would earn the WarGames advantage.

WWE selected the perfect opponents to do battle here as both competitors brought the brutality. Yim, in particular, won the fanfare of many after she busted her nose open and still took a nasty bump, falling from the top of a ladder onto another one on the ringside floor.

Ultimately it was Shirai who won the contest with an assist from Kay Lee Ray. There’s no denying their talent and strength after viewing this one.

#4. Gallus vs. Imperium vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster – WWE NXT UK Tag Team Championship – TakeOver: Blackpool II (Jan. 12, 2020)

I’d be remiss if I left NXT UK’s sole ladder match out of this countdown. The tag team division has been a highlight at every UK TakeOver so far. The most recent installment in Blackpool was certainly no different.

I was convinced that Gallus would lose their titles here, but they proved to everyone why they remain at the top. Elsewhere, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel were a force to be reckoned with in their first TakeOver outing. Zack Gibson and James Drake wouldn’t back down. And Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster couldn’t be grounded.

This one was as brutal as they come. Not even ladder mishaps could take away from the impressive performances which helped land them this high on the list.
